Student Research and Thesis Topics -- Miniforschung, Bachelor Theses, Master Theses, Doctoral Dissertation Projects

  • Accelerator Physics & Polarized Electron Source (Funding: DFG SFB 634)
    • Superconducting 2-cell capture structure for the polarized beam
    • Setup and test of various devices for measuring the electron beam polarization close to the experiments (Mott, Moeller, and Compton polarimeters)
    • Laser systems driving the polarized photo injector: beam stabilization, polarization measurement etc.
    • Automatization of polarization and beam profile measurements
  • Experiments with polarized beams (Funding: DFG SFB 634)
    • Photo-induced nuclear fission studies: understanding the fission process and parity violation in particular
    • Test and construction of an active UF6 gas target for fission studies
    • Electron scattering experiments with polarized beams
    • Tests of statistical data processing with simulated spectra
  • Research and development in conjunction with FAIR/GSI (Funding: BMBF, GSI, HIC for FAIR and HGS-HIRe)
    • Analysis of reaction studies in light nuclei: Knockout and transfer reactions
    • Drift chamber design and development of digital readout electronics for charged-particle detection
    • Data acquisition and front-end electronics R&D for FAIR/NuSTAR
    • Novel electron scattering experiments: Small-angle scattering at the S-DALINAC and ELISe at FAIR
  • ...some more details here...
We are part of the Sonderforschungsbereich 634, the Research Center "Kern- und Strahlungsphysik" of TU Darmstadt, the funding program of the German Federal Ministry of Research and Education (BMBF-Verbundforschung), and the Helmholtz International Center for FAIR which is a member in the Helmholtz Graduate School for Hadron and Ion Research (HGS-HIRe).
